Sixteen full moons to the day, the promise of long-awaited love knocked

Whilst the doors opened quickly, the feet moved slowly

The heart was locked away cause past paths created loneliness and pain

We share stories of the days long gone, before our eyes met

And swap shoes for brief moments, asking each other to “hear my story”

With nakedness, vulnerability and rawness, you tell the tale of your journey to me

In our very first moment, you knew you took my breath away

But it was not enough to take, so too my soul you claimed

I took your eyes and your heart followed suite

Now your soul has finally found a place to stay

A restlessness I fought, some said I ran from

Now I know I always ran to, though

for that restlessness is gone and only certainty lives, in you

Let me show you that I am worthy of your trust

let me show you that I am deserving of your love

And let me show you I see beauty in all of you

especially the bruises and scars that bind the joys and sorrows

He took a sledgehammer and went for her walls

She took her light and went looking for his soul

He gives her safe hands for her heart he bears

She resonates her light for his soul she shares

Together, they fight each other’s battles

I am learning so your safety I seek

you are building so my patience I give

I have only ever been yours to take

and you have only ever been mine to keep

Sixteen full moons later, we walk, only neither of us alone

Our love is lifetimes fought, lifetimes lived, and lifetimes won

Let’s promise to remember the battle fought for our love to grow

For souls that are meant will always meet to go home as one
